Disinformation. There is a lot of it around. It is what other people do. It is what other people believe. Zelenskyy with little left to lose, called Trump out on it. Musk is “flooding the zone” with it. He and Bannon may be enemies, but this is Bannon’s strategy. By the way I may have been the only person who can’t tell Steve Bannon and the man from Weatherspoon’s apart? But the Nazi salute at CPAC has sorted that out for me. Anyway, disinformation is somehow seen a right-wing tactic. The left/liberals/the good guys are on the side of truth.

Reality is not something you get to pick n’ mix but on the subject of gender, things have got more and more preposterous. We had to listen to Dr Beth Upton in the Sandie Peggie employment tribunal who was a man until 2022, say that he is now “a biological woman”. This is medically qualified doctor. What on earth does he mean and yes I am using ‘he’ as I am weary of the pronoun business these days.

I notice they are dropping off as fast as organisations are leaving Stonewall. It’s also got to the ridiculous stage where I get emails from blokey estate agents with he/him on them, written at the bottom. Like I care? Clearly they are told to do this and whereas before, I thought it’s no skin off my nose, to call people what they want to be called, this level of corporate compulsion is not some marvellous embrace of sexual fluidity, it is asinine .

My pronouns by the way are ‘I and I’. And you can scream me for cultural appropriation but that is how ‘I and I’ feel. So there.

Anyway back to the serious nature of what the brilliant Peter Pomerantz calls the new “disinformation architecture’. We live it seems to me, within this architecture and have for some time. It’s just that Elon Musk’s obscene wealth and takeover of X have made it more apparent to many. Disinformation is the currency Musk and Trump trade in. It is more valuable to them than any crypto currency, it is indeed what boosts crypto currency.
