It's been made pretty clear by men who know better than me, that I have done something almost criminal this past week. Something offensive, possibly genocidal and on a weeknight too.
I went out and celebrated recent victories and Julie Bindel’s new book with a bunch of women. We drunk, we ate and we accidentally ordered 25 desserts because we cannot really be trusted with things like puddings, counting and appetite. We were suitably disgusted with ourselves for all of 30 seconds and ate the lot.
There is nothing like women celebrating that seems to winkle out the misogyny that has flowed since the Supreme Court judgement.
The first crime is saying no to men and the second is to be happy about it. It sends them right over edge
.
Some of us should have already known that. Pasta and wine with JK Rowling a few years ago made a female comedian “angry cry”. The entire world of comedy speaks with one voice on this issue, a kind of modish howl, angry crying dressed up as jokes There is an absolute orthodoxy that is as disheartening as it is unfunny. It’s the same in the art world. Dissidents are shunned. I’ve stopped going to galleries which instruct me on how to think of the art and retrofit 2020 style “intersectionality” onto paintings which did nothing too deserve it.
The image of JK Rowling on her boat smoking a cigar also set the begrudgers off .Of course it did. She should been having a rollie in a dustbin outside Tesco Express while begging. She was in Daily Mail language, flaunting her enviable wealth which up until now has of course been entirely SECRET. And unearned obviously.
Women laughing, women having a good time, women winning. Truly this is end- times for the right side of history mob. It drives them mad, or in most cases a little more mad.
