I haven’t been here much lately, so I thought I’d write you a little diary to tell you why…
Succession
Some of you were keen for me to write about Succession and I was very keen to do it. I still am. The brilliant series had just finished and I wasn’t allowed to talk about in the family as my eldest had been on holiday and there could be no chat until she was back and had watched it.
She and the sulking Brian Cox seemed to be the only ones not to have seen the final episode. Meanwhile I hoovered up every podcast and article going. As someone said, there must have been as many think pieces about Succession as there were viewers. Should I write another? Also, what did I really think now I had become immersed in weird Kendall memes, quasi-Marxist analysis and the semiotics of beige clothing? ‘I will leave it to percolate,’ I thought, and then I read (in The Guardian, of course, in one of its typical “Why everything you think is good is actually bad” pieces) about the Succession ‘backlash’.
