Arrest Us All ! I stand with JK Rowling.

All Fools Day and I may proclaim as Richard Dawkins has said “A woman is an adult human female, free of Y chromosomes” cos I damn well feel like it!

Does this fact offend you?  Even though I did not write this in Scotland, it can be read in Scotland and could therefore be construed as a hate crime. I may ,without any threat of violence be stirring up hatred against people with Y chromosomes who say they are women.

Though I may be stating biological fact ,where in  this post-truth world will that get me? Gender identity is whatever says it is. Biological sex is for grumpy old birds like me . Its just so damn passé especially in new model society of Scotland where maybe 0.5% (about 24,000 out of 5.5 million people many actually be trans) but someone how the needs of this group must be prioritised.

Never mind dull old women, increasing levels of domestic violence and femicide what about the non-binaries? The agenders? The neglected asexuals?

This legislation was passed in 2021 when Yousaf Humza was Justice Secretary and it creates a new and somewhat vague offence of “stirring up hatred” that is coming into being today.

Its already been used  by Murdo Fraser (Conservative SNP)  who is saying he will take legal action against the Police for recording a tweet he sent last year as a “ non-crime hate incident”. The incendiary comment? “Choosing to identify as “non-binary’ is as valid as choosing to identify as a cat. I’m not sure Governments should be spending time on action plans for either”.

Whatever the intention behind this legislation it is already looking completely unworkable and quite honestly, mad. This is because you can be accused of ‘stirring up hatred’ because of race, religion, sexual orientation  , transgender identity and age but not on the basis of sex.  Therefore  a man who says he is a woman has more protection in law than an actual woman.
